Hi,

Can anybody tell me if it's possible to program a remote yourself for a 2008 Altima Coupe? I found couple of instructions on programming the fob (KR55WK48903) but they both mention inserting the key into ignition.... but my car only has the start/button so I'm guessing these instructions are for a 4door Altima?

Also, does anyone know for sure if the coupe key (not the remote) has a chip in it? i.e. if I wanted to get another key, can I just go to a locksmith or do I need to get a chipped key?

look right under where the release switch is for the trunk theres a lil slot for where you can put the key inside and you jus push it in and push it in once more and it pops out

At worst, he's a thief with blanks trying to figure out if he can program them himself. At best, he's just a guy that lost his keys and bought a blank from eBay and trying to save dough by reprogramming it himself.

The hard key is not chipped. A locksmith (or a dealer) can cut the metal key blank, but only the dealer can program the intelligent key.

whoa guys, easy with the thief suspicions :)
Bought the Altima (2008 Coupe) at an auction post-accident, and sadly the previous owner didn't leave the keys/remote. So I'm trying to avoid the hassle of having to haul it in to the dealer's to have it programmed. I bought a spare remote off ebay and the dealer said they can program it for me (I guess I don't have to buy the remote from them, they'll just charge me for programming it but I still have to tow the car in which makes this a bit pricey). I found some instructions on programming the remotes on this forum but the last reply from terrycs seems to indicate they won't help me? Can someone confirm for sure whether the procedure posted for Altima remote programming doesn't apply here?

Why do I feel like they can do this off of the VIN?
