Altima Coupe interior "mood light" - any experience?

Hey folks, new here.
I was searching the internet and couldn't find anything on what I was looking for. I could find the footwell lights, but that's not what I wanted. Let me explain:
I recently drove a Rogue. Didn't really like it, but it did have something I liked: the orange mood light in the map light console on the headliner. I noticed my car has the cutout for this moodlight as well (I think it's an option, at least on newer Coupes, I have a 2011) and I was wondering - has anyone attempted to add this light after they bought the car? I would love to have the light (red would be awesome) and it seems, logically speaking, that it's probably just a missing module that I can pop in (I hope). Does anyone know where I could find this part, or has anyone done this themselves?

Welcome to NICO!

Nissan calls this an "Illuminated Center Console" and it only comes up with leather packages. A few guys around here may have done something to add it after the fact.

Take it apart and have a look! If you have the skills, its probably doable!

Thanks Tyler. I'll have a look around for a DIY. I may do something like that myself - but I always end up messing something up unfortunately. It's a curse, I think.

Also, do a search here on the forums for interior LED modifications. A couple guys have replaced all of the orange interior LED's with a different color. They may have done the mood light as well.

Learn something new everyday. I thought all the Altimas had that little light up there. When I was checking out everyone elses car last year at Carlisle, I never thought to look and see if they all had that light. Kinda silly, it's a $1 LED, why not have it on the whole line?

It seems like it would be a nice touch for all of their cars. I mean, the plastic molding already has the cutout and housing for it, and since I made this thread I've dug up that there's a harness on the A pillar that I think the light plugs into, but I'm not sure. Too much work for one little light unfortunately.

Maybe a good to post in here too, maybe "Add to the list" as that thread shall grow as new models are released. Maybe Nissan will read and make it standard.
