Yes, its true. This morning I traded in my Altima Coupe of 5 years 5 months for another vehicle. I have to say, it was not hard and maybe a bit overdue. For various reasons (which I will explain later) it had to happen...YESTERDAY. It was slowly but surely taking a downward spiral into oblivion (metaphorically speaking) and I had to get out while I could. It happened so fast that the only thing I removed from it were the subwoofers and amplifiers. Some lucky little brat is going to have their first car be a nicely equipped Altima Coupe (Borla exhaust, Racingline y-pipe, K&N intake, Racingline strut bar, Eibach springs, KYB shocks and struts, projector headlights, LED tail lights, ALL stayed on the car at trade).

Picture time!

As she stood today when I traded her in, a filthy little whuah.

Feel free to bite this now, his and hers initials on the lower door frame.

Apparently it was trade in your Altima day.

Image

Little shoot I did when I first got my DSLR.

Image
Image

IMO, the ONLY way to tint you tail lights. Start with this:

Image

End up with this:

Image

Ohhhh the amp mount. I spent so much time on this. It pained me slightly to smash it to pieces this morning.

Image

And the CAP holder.

Image

The car is filthy in this pic, and its a terrible camera, but for some reason I LOVE this picture.

Image

The old grille, before I even had tint.

Image

This was the first round of tail tint. It looks amazing, but about as dangerous as driving blindfolded.

Image

The headunit and DVD hack switch! God I was so proud of this. What a piece of crap that headunit is (its still in the car).

Actually Ill post this one from Carlisle 2012, one of my favorites. From front right to back left is DJ_B_Easy, LongBeachCoupe, Dreed86, DiamondWVU, Phenonemal Vinyl, Dangeris (you old fart), CoupeCrazy, Hemi swapped G35 (not a member here, thats what it is), and MattV609.

Image

Now, you may ask yourself. What in the world might entice DJ_B_Easy to trade in his Altima Coupe!?!?!?! Well I'll tell you, but first we need some explanation.

I'm going to be 30 years old in February. Im getting married in May. Im hopefully selling my condo and buying a house shortly thereafter, maybe popping out a few baby Beasys. I need something functional, reliable, safe, and tank-like. Play time is over (sort of). I need 4 wheel drive. I need voice activated command. I need in dash nav. I need 40GB in dash hard drive. What fits the bill?

2012 Jeep Liberty Limited Jet Edition

20s, yo. And more flush than my AC ever was!

Image

3.7L V6 4 speed automatic. 4 Speed is WEIRD at first. You dont really get there until 60MPH, and then you are doing 85 without even realizing it. Have to get used to that for sure. F gas mileage. I averaged 19 in the AC. I get 16/21 with the Liberty, and I dont need to fill with 93. Should be somewhat even split.

Image

Sticker price was $32,995, Im financing $23,500, you do the math. Big incentive from the MFG helped out, I could not pass this up. All said and done, 5 hours in the dealership and my monthly payment increased by $50.00, my insurance DECREASED by $20.00. $30.00 More/month for a brand new ride with warranty and every feature I wanted. If anyone is in the market for an SUV I highly suggest checking out the Liberty (same incentive applies to all models).

Not going to do the goodbye thing, because Im not going anywhere.

Oh, one other thing. I left these in the AC.

Image

One in each front seat map pocket, one in each back seat map pocket, one in each door storage area, one in the glove box, one in the center console, one in the cubby under the radio, one in the trunk. Hopefully ONE of those makes it to the next owner and we get an amazing thread out of it.

Damn, sad to see your car go man, it was great, you are always one of the first people I wanna ask when I have a question... I'm afraid I might need a change of vehicle sometime in the future as well, I'm only 20, but I'm too tall for this car, and I want something with more PRACTICALITY (space, gas milage, all wheel drive, so on). You no doubt know the feeling. I'm sure you're still gonna lurk on these forums, so I'll be seeing you around!! (I won't be getting a Jeep though, probably more Audi for me)

Thank you, I appreciate that. And like I said Im not going anywhere. I know this car inside and out, until I find a Mopar forum worthy of my attendance Im not going anywhere.

Thank you guys! I appreciate the kind words!

:grouphug:

@Mistahlimit, I really didnt have the time to get everything off. Not to mention its been 10 degrees all week as you know. I spent 2 hours gutting the stereo and backseat amp rack, that was enough. I probably could have gotten the strut bar off, but I always had problems getting the bolts back in. In fact, the driver side tower only has 2 out of the 3 bolts in it now! I couldnt risk taking them out, having a major problem getting them back in, and not being able to deliver the car to the dealership. This was a purge of all thing Altima, I dont want parts sitting in my basement for someone to MAYBE come pick them up from me.

Just took all my OEM parts to the recycling center. Exhaust, y pipe, intake, struts, shocks, speakers, just about everything is GONE. Funny thing is I was able to take it all in one trip now. The irony, le sigh...

That said, I will have a VERY small part out open to locals who can pickup, Im not shipping anything. Sub enclosures, fog lights, wheels, etc.

Hot damn that happened fast! Good luck with the new ride!

I've been contemplating a new car as well. I just don't know what. The AC has been great to me but sadly I feel like I'm growing out of it.

Thank you Tyler.

Yes, once I had decided on the Jeep it happened fast. But I had been looking for a LONG time. If you read back through my posts within the past couple months they are all but enthusiastic toward the AC. I just had to find that perfect match in my price range and that was it. 2 Dealerships in 2 nights, signed the papers at 9:00 on the second.

Seems like a few people are feeling the same about the AC? What a short life of the VQ35 QR25 coupe!

I hope you have good luck with the Jeep. I work at a used car mega store and I've driven a few of those, not impressed but to each his own. I still love my AC from day 1, no problems with it. I probably would have gone with an Xtera or Tundra.

Damn the coupes gone... Your amp rack was smashed from removing it? I always thought that looked nice. I can understand your reasons for trading it in. I know I couldn't deal with a coupe. Never knew they made a jet edition jeep, then again I don't pay much attention to SUV's.

I looked at Xteras and Pathfinders, coudnt get one into my price range with the features I wanted. I got a big incentive from Jeep for the Liberty which was another reason I went with it.

I smashed it (on purpose) while removing it. It was about 12 degrees when I was working on it and just muscled most of that sumabitch out as fast as I could!

I know I saw you pull in and then you vanished once Tarek and I went looking for you!

No offroading is in the near future. Im trying to keep this thing clean and in 1 piece.

And no other plans really, like I said Im trying to tone down a bit. Im definitely ordering some sort of Weathertec or Mopar slush mats though, my driver side carpet insert is already stained white from all the salt on the roads/sidewalks/parking lots recently. I think Im going to do some Weathertec wind deflectors too. Other than that I might do some side steps and a grille guard down the road once the wedding and such is over with, they are damn expensive. You guys should feel lucky paying $500.00 for a full front fascia. Grille guard and side rails costs the same or more (each) and they are just some mandrel bent steel. I was also thinking of possibly replacing the stock subwoofer as well. Nothing fancy, no additional amp or anything. Just swap OEM for aftermarket.

Yo, best investment you can make is getting a clear bra for your car. Honestly, with the salt and whatnot, the clear bra I have has saved that crappy Nissan paint on more than one occasion. Plus, I personally think deflectors and so on look tacky, and the bra is and invisible protector... perfect! and at around 400 bucks, its reasonably priced in comparison too!! Whatever you do though, make sure its soon, while the car is new. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

I considered the clear bra, still might do it but it definitely wont be soon. Thing is with the increased ride height Im going to be a lot less subject to road debris. I would probably only get it on the front bumper, no hood or fenders. Everything else I can seal up come spring with a nice wax job.

And by wind deflectors I meant on the windows, not the hood type.
