Would it be possiable to have the crome grill mustache painted Dark Slate to match my car? If so can it be done in-house w/ Nissan. If not can I get the paint needed and have it done by a body shop?

IMO the mustache is the weakest part of my new ride.

I love the grill, it makes it a Nissan. I think the top portion of the grill, the one painted in the car's color could have also been chromed, but anyway it looks good.

It does make it recognizable as a Nissan (as they all have similar grills) and it does make it 'different' then the Sedan. Since the front-end is the most similar part of the car between the Sedan/Coupe I think it helps differentiate it enough that it stands out. I've been told by a few people that they didn't even realize my car was a Coupe till they saw it from the side/rear-end.

I think a chrome mesh grille (ala Strut Grille) would look sweet on the coupe.

Have they come out with any aftermarket grills for the coupe yet? I think after tints, that the grill will be the first thing to be changed on my coupe. Not a fan at all. An aftermarket one will make it even more different from the sedan.

Yes you can get the mustache painted. Any paint shop will be able to do it. I did mine myslef, it was easy since i have a super black coupe. The mustache is the weakes part of the coupe and i hated it when it was that fake chrome plastic.

I like that a lot... I think I'll take my black coupe to the paint shop too.

I think that was the best and cheapest mod i have done to my car. If you noticed i also painted the honeycomb part black as well. It is greyish stock. I like the murdered out look

I'm not really a fan of the altima front. I've debated the Stillen front fascia since I really like it unlike many others.

I was hoping something would come out to replace it. I'm not a real fan of billet front grills, but at this point I think it would look better than stock.

How hard was paitning the honeycomb part itself? Does it actually seperate from the grille shell, or does it all need to come off? For that matter do I have to take the bumper off to get the grille out O_O

The grill is tough without taking the bumper off. Good news though, only 8 Screws and a number of punch retainers later and it comes off:

a) 1 screw in each fender, midway up the front of the fender.b) 3 screws under the bumper on each side.c) 6-8 Punch Retainers attaching the undercarriage cover and the lower bumper.d) 8 or so punch retainers between the upper bumper and the engine compartment (upper).

Make sure to detatch the fog lights (if you have them). Pull away the bumper.

The grill comes out with the push of a number of retainer clips, the mustaches come off of the grill with a push of the 7 plastic clips there. As usual, Nissan over-engineered this like it does many other things.

Two cents,-- Wind

thats just not what I wanted to hear .. Im afraid to take my bumper off, for fear that I wont be able to line it back up right, or worse. Itll get scratched while its off!

Well, IMHO it's pretty easy. As fr as alignment, when you put the screws back in keep them loose until you got the bumper where you want it, push it around then once in line tighten the screws from the front af the car back the last one being the wheel well screw.

As for scratching, that's what the pile of towels in the garage is for. If you don't have any, get some.

But, most of all, if you're uncomfortable, then don't do it. Nothing like a car without it's front end ...
