Ok, I have an 09 a/c and I love it so far. I have seen a decent amount of stuff to do to my car and am in the process of doing as much as possible to the car. I have an exhaust and intake already and I am not lookin to turbo or supercharge it quite yet. I have the runs in the shop right now getting done and am getting a body kit and headlights soon as well.

I want to change the interior lights color to all blue especially that crappy looking dash lol. I hate the orange and I know that they are surface mounted led's and I have found an electric specialist with cars to do it but he wants me to find out all the info for how to do it and what size led's I need cuz of course he will charge me to take out the cluster and find it out. I already looked at all the surman posts and there are no directions because he doesn't want people doing it I guess. does anyone have any threads they can direct me to for the directions and sizes ill need. and yes I know what surface mounted leds are.

also I see tons of people sponsored ... HOW DO I DO THISSSSSSS lol I really wanna find out I mean hell I'd even be a test car for a company doing a turbo kit or supercharger :-)

If your "electrical specialist with cars" cant figure it out, I wouldnt trust him to do it. If all you need is the size of the LEDs, send Surman a nice message, Im sure he will share. I assume directions would be pages upon pages, thats why there are none listed on the forum.

I understand that, thats why I said to send Surman a message if the only info he needs is the LED size. Im sure he will be happy to give a quick run down as well. If I were you, Id ask him how many LEDs are needed as well. Your guy should only have to resolder them, he should be able to base price on that.

He is the Godfather of this. As far as I know he is the only person that ever produced them, everyone that has it was done through him.

If he wont answer, go back into his thread and look up the instructions on how to remove the gauge cluster. Do it yourself, take it to your guy, get your estiamte, put it back in until hes ready to work on it.

hey everyone its been awhile since i have been on i miss my A/C lol. anyway yes i have no problem sharing with you the leds size they are PLCC-4 SMD if your electric guy wants to charge you money for looking at the cluster here you go let me save you some time and money http://s474.photobucket.com/albums/rr10 ... uchled.jpg i warn you now the leds have 4 contact points so if you are unfamiliar with how to properly solider them and when i say that i mean its a b**** this is why i stopped doing this its simply very time consuming and if you f*** up the led by putting on to much solider your led WILL short the gauge cluster and then ur f*** cuz your gauge cluster saves you millage try explaining to your dealer and not voiding warranty as to WTF u where doing and having to replace a cluster and having it reprogrammed by the dealer i don't even know how much they would charge for that anyway i will share all the info you need im not hiding some trade secret im a nice guy id love to see more people do this type of stuff :) im not gonna do a wright up cuz its pointless you want to know how to do this i can give some pointers call me xxxxxxxxxxxxx i hate to wright long explanations because its gonna take forever to explain...

OK... this thread is BEYOND dead, however. My girlfriend has a 2009 Nissan Altima Coupe and I will be performing this mod on her dash and all other "orange" interior lights. I have purhcased a separate spare gauge cluster as well as a spare heater control unit (Just so that I can make sure she won't lose the ability to drive if I mess something up). I've ordered 50 white and 50 blue PLCC4 SMD LED's as well as a hot air desolder / standard solder station with digital temp control to help make sure things run smoothly.

I've modded other gear like an MPC2000XL and swapped the LED's and internal components, and have also swapped other smaller SMD LED's so while I am a little concerned with the 4 contact points per LED, it does make me feel safer that the size of these PLCC4 LED's is a lot larger than what I've had to deal with in the past.

My question here is now that I have a spare, who, if anyone, would still be interested in getting this mod done? I think if I can successfully accomplish this on hers then I would just do the same to the spare and then you could send me your stock one, and I'll send you the finished modded one.

One question for anyone that might know, what type of paint is used for the rings after scraping the orange off? Just any translucent blue glass paint?

Also, it was mentioned that a type of paint thinner was used to delicately remove the paint front the needles, anyone know of what might work without damaging the plastic as well? Goo-Gone? Or just an Xacto Blade?
