I look at it this way

1. The members in school are studying for finals
2. Those who reaped a huge income tax refund are now moding out
3. Those who have to pay in to Uncle Sam are not in the mood to post, or mod, in fact why the fu#@ talk.
4. I am so freakin busy at work I don't even know what I'm talking about.
5. Or. the new layout will take some time to get used to?????????

But, I don't think the Coupe forum is dying, IMO

The forums are what we make of them!

The new format is just that... NEW.... theres nothing that it DOESNT do that the old format did do...

Nico was my first forum (outside slickdeals) and the new layout is different, dont get me wrong.. but it is vastly superior in so many ways!

Its like when Dangeris wears his underwear for 5 days straight... on day 5 hes not looking forward to taking them off, but once hes got a new pair on hes all good to go!

Dying? Come on folks! :) No way its dying. Things just come to a lull at times. The new layout has probably discouraged some people. Change makes people lose the warm and fuzzy feeling of something familiar. I assure you, we are still warm and fuzzy and we are still familiar :naughty:

LBC, way too close to a Wayne's World quote. You went that far, should've just legitimately quoted.

I don't think the forums are dying. But, a lot of the excitement that came with the new car has passed. And, with the change-over the forums were hit-or-miss, so some people didn't feel like sitting around waiting for the pages to load. As they work out the kinks, everything will work better than it used to, and the traffic will come back. As long as these cars are on the road (and more importantly people want to mod them), the A/C subsection will be around.

BTW, there's always tons of traffic in gen chat. I've actually met quite a few awesome people in the last few months. I am now greatly looking forward to Carlisle to meet all the A/C owners as well as other members of the Nissan/Datsun family.

to be honest, I couldnt even log in for a day or 2 after the forum switched over. and when I was able to log in, I couldnt do things like quote people, didnt know where the "coupe" section was, there were a bunch of little kinks. I mean dont get me wrong, I understand that there will be kinks and I'm not complaining but I did find myself not checking out the forums as often as usual and waiting for a bunch of the kinks to get worked out. now that they are all worked out, I'm checking and posting more frequently. still not as much as before, but thats because I'm still getting used to everything

I'll probably never be a fan of the new layout. I think ads should have a place of their own instead of cramping up space. The color combinations are bland, basically ppl will be more apt to join if a forum is pleasing to look at. Good thing all the altima forums are finally grouped together.

+1, Because I didnt even know there was a switch made. I had the zerothread bookmarked and it simply went dead, I thought NICO went down or got hacked or something. I didnt find out about the switch until I got a message from The Nico Coupes Facebook page. Maybe moderators can look into sending an email to all members announcing the switch? Im sure there are more dolts like me out there doing the same thing I was.

But Im still here! Actually waiting for some replies on recent questions Ive posted...you all are still here, go check them out and help! :yesnod

Yea, Im on the same boat as many of you. The change over screwed me up a bit. I couldnt log in for a few days, things were super slow and and I had password touble. It seems to be working a lot better now, I am not crazy about the color and adds, but some of the new features are cool. One thing that i think needs to be looked into is the add banner (adds by google) on the top of the screen sits over the drop down menues of the forum nav bar, the bar with the : User Profile | FAQ | Atricles/Reviews |... and makes it not possible to read or use the links in the drop down cover by the add. Im using IE 8, It happens with FF too.

I am also in the not much going on boat. Work is still spotty for me right now so cash flow is not constant, and I dont have a lot extra to spend on mods. I did however order one of SBD's grounding kits, should be here any day now. If things go right i may have a few hundred to spend in the next week or so, im not sure on what yet, but i'm thinking, intake, or... something.

Change is good! It keeps things fronm getting too stale and monotonous. We finally have a PM system for all of us, not just the mods. True, the look is different, but hey, NOTHING in life stays the same. This is the second shake up of the forums since the creation of the Altima Coupe section, if you didn't know tht, then you're definitely NOT an OG1 But I digress...

If all else fails, then think of this quote that I keep in mind everyday.. it helps me deal with change...

"The ONLY THING in life that doesn't change in life is the simple fact that EVERYTHING will eventually change!"

The quote itself may be a paradox because, if the quote is true... then the statement itself can't be because it in itself is something that is also subject to change! If I'm moving too fast, then I need you to think faster so that I don't have to slow down for you to catch up!

OK, back to studying...

The colors aren't THAT different, if anything, they've modified them some to look more like the past layout. And don't even get me started on the past forum software vs the new one. This one is MILES ahead of that one. Loving the new Quick Reply, way faster than the old as well as less cumbersome. The user control panel is ALOT EASIER to get to as well with it being on the right hand side instead of being a dark link on a dark background and the load times have everything to do with their server load rather than new forum software.

And the rest of the site really isn't that different. Same header, mostly the same sidebar and same footer. So where are people losing themselves? I can understand the period in which everything was in transition, hell, even I was lost but now most links seem to be working properly and the order seems to be more spot on.

I give the Nico Staff a thumbs up on the transition. There's probably some User Interface issues still left hanging around which I'm sure will be fixed in time. So everyone should calm down and breath, things will be ok. :)

Oh and on the actual topic title, things don't seem dead to me. I still have like 15-20 threads to go through every time I visit. ;)

I've looked at your posting history, and I don't think you've had a positive thing to say since you got here.

Therefore, you have a few options:

Feel free to request a refund... Oh, wait.

Find another dedicated Altima Coupe forum... Oh, wait.

Buy the domain name "altimacoupe.com" and develop your own... Oh, wait.

As far as your comments on ads, if you had any idea what it costs per month to run this place, you'd understand why they're in place. I don't think they're in your way at all. "Bland" colors are easier on the eyes - Clown-colored forums are for little kids and retards. Then again, I'm not an interior decorator, and I don't much give a damn about silly crap like color-matching. :inoutgay:

I've been doing this for 7 years - I think I got this. But thanks for the input... :) :dblthumb:

The forum was never down for a few days, you just had to know where to "click". When i first logged on the past few days, it said no forum blah blah, but on the top left corner, there's a little "NICOclub forum" icon and click on that annnnddddd Ah HA! altima coupe forum!

I dunno why people are so blah about the color scheme and "oh its too hard for me to click n search for the forum". if you really enjoy this forum, you should take the time to look for it and enjoy it like before. You're hear to get/give advices/opinions, see other peoples mods and cars. No matter what color scheme the forum is, or how hard it is to find it before the "kinks" were worked out, your attention is going to be focused MORE on what people write and pics they post, than the gray background and advertisements on the side. (this is the part where you look at the background and advertisements). Enjoy the forum people, a lot of useful info and great people here :bigthumb:

Oh, and everyone reset your profile, name, location, car etc.... :fistpumping:

I for one absolutely love the new forums and even if I had a slight problem with the layout or the color choices I would just be thankful that the forums are much quicker! As for the AC forums dying, I'm not so sure about that blackteam02. Kudos for sparking up a good thread that gets people chatting on here though! I check the forums often though admittedly I pretty much stick to the AC section and don't wander off to General Chat much (well at least not for posting, but I do read some of the posts there).

Hey Ive only been on board here a couple weeks, so don't have any real points of comparison vs the 'old' site design.

Having said that - I can navigate around and find everything fairly easily, and the graphics and ads are just not a concern.

Cudos to what was probly a pretty signficant technical effort in getting the upgrade up and running...

i think there's not as much posting anymore based on the simple fact that a lot of people are kinda done modding. car's been out for a while and the people who were enthusiastic about modding their cars have mostly finished. there hasn't really been any new parts lately so nothing new to talk about except posting pics of mods that everyone else has done. how many threads can there be of "hey check out my new spoiler that 50 other members have". so when new things arrive (like the traction rods and a few others from racingline in the works) then i'm sure it'll stir up some more conversation. oh yeah, and if someone start a projector retro project and is slightly competent and offers decent prices

disagree completely. if there's a will there is a way.

No one is going out of their way to mod. I was at Darryl's house (dangeris) couple weeks ago and he has like tons of new additions to his coupe. Not y-pipes, exhausts, or any premanufactured stuff but just random things that anyone can do with the time given. I don't want to say what they are since he hasn't unveiled many of them. Point is, modding a car should have a DIY mentality to it. You can manufacture your own mods with a creative mind. Not every mod has to be made for you, ready to be installed.

Oh and if a mod isn't out for a car... start a thread on it, gauge some interest.

I agree with the forum being somewhat "dead" lately. Nothing interesting is being posted anymore, it's either people having issues with their coupes or new photoshoot threads, at least I enjoy the latter.

they are from Boss Motorsports .. and the rim style is 318

http://www.bossmotorsports.com/custom_c ... cfm?id=277

They make these in both chrome and black chrome... not everyone likes chrome wheels, so the black chrome is a very nice alternative if you like the wheel design

I have the 20" so obviously I'm not going for the lightest, fastest wheels for a street setup... I just wanted something that was pleasing to my eyes, something that I felt fit the curves and lines of the car well, and something that was by and large easy to clean (wheel design that is).

Ha!! A fellow SD'er AND AC'er...We are like brothers!

On a side note I had some trouble with the new format, but now I have gotten the hang of navigating it. Still have trouble finding this subsection with old broken links via google etc, but for the most part this nub has adjusted.

What's up everyone! I've been away for a bit, partly because of the new change (took a little bit to figure it out and get my new password) and because of school & life. Spent last weekend in Vegas for my birthday and picked up a new tat from Hart & Huntington (yipee) Also leaving next Sunday for London & Johannesburg for a two week visit with the hubby, who is a Exploration Geologist....making arrangements for homework while I'm gone.....blah, blah blah.....my point? Life gets in the way, but I'm a Coupe member ALWAYS! I love this place and I appreciate the all the efforts made to make this the best forum possible. My A/C wouldn't look the way it does, had it not been for this forum and I applaud all of the talent and knowledge that both OG and other members bring to the table.
I really enjoy the photoshoots people post up, I never tire of looking at a good-lookin, clean A/C in a cool setting...
The forum is NOT dying and I'm glad to be back in the mix!

Cheers.......and I'm totally bummed I don't live close enough to attend Carlisle and meet some of these awesome folks....take lots of pics please!

Amazing!

Another poster posted a pic of the 318s in Black Chrome a couple weeks ago, and the design really caught my eye even then, and I utlimately did days of online research. The 318 Black Chromes are hard to find in 18x8.5...I eventually spoke with someone at Boss and he said sometime in May they are releasing the 318 in "eco-chrome" which is resistive to all the crap they put on the roads up here. (I'm not into swapping on winter wheels!) I have a black A/C, so was considering the 318 Black, but having seen the 318 Chrome on an actual A/C, it does work insanely well with the flow of the car.....flashy, but not pimpy....thanx much for the info......!

someone said it I think its a lack of products. We have had nothing new come out reciently? We need some body kits for the 2010 style.
Personally I am broke, moving is killing me expendable income :frown:
And I think people need to get more creative. How about some interior work guys???
For example Im buying some extra seats fabric for my black cloth interior and buying white suede and having the middle of the seats covered in suede along with the door panels  Will look dirty when Im done but thats way down the road.
