For both the inline 4 and v6 what is the potential mods to strengthen the engine to handle more power? Would it be at all possible to bring the inline 4 over 300+ hp or the v6 to 500+ hp?

New pistons, fly wheel, transmission, pulleys and all? Is it doable?

A custom turbo for the 2.5 may get you close to 250bhp, but gains will be limited to the CVT's power limitations, and the engine's internal limitations. Achieving 500bhp on the 3.5 will not happen with the 6spd or CVT either.

The Altima simply isn't the platform to use if you're a serious modifier and/or want serious power gains. The 270bhp on the V6 is actually plenty fast and will smoke a lot of cars from the line or on the highway due to CVTs ability to produce instant torque/power. It's already difficult to force induct the 2.5 to achieve 270bhp. :yesnod

500whp is attainable on the 3.5 however you'd need a built engine and a new clutch and flywheel which are available.

The only thing is, you'd then begin venturing into territory in which the transmission itself as well as the axles might not hold up for long. So unless you have 10s of thousands of dollars to custom fab new parts then it's probably worth it to look into higher end cars.

The other issue of course is FWD... While others have done it like various hatch Civics and RSX's, it's kind of unstable and very hard to get traction unless you fab the car up and put huge fat tires on it.
