If you want a custom fit ported box, then you will need to have it built.. but if you want a single 10" or double 10" box, then the one on ebay should do the job for MOST woofers, not all!

Still need info on boxes? Im drawing up some plans for simple boxes that fit in the a/c that can be free for nico members. these boxes fit snugly in the trunk or backseat and hold either 1 10", 2 10", 1 12", or 2 12"s. ported or sealed just give me the subwoofer specs and ill draw it up. only minimal woodworking experience needed.

vballer22, are you drawing up plans for fiberglass enclosures too, or just standard MDF boxes?

Well I was just planning on making one myself following guides I found on this forum, and other places:

zerothread/240404http://forums.altimas. ... ru....html

More work than just buying it, but I figure it'll probably end up being cheaper and more custom fit for the car. Plus the pride and all that jazz of building your own stuff

Standard mdf boxes. 3/4" inch to be exact. but that part is a given. What kind of subwoofer are you running? Ill give you some specs, a cut sheet and a sketch up if you let me know the model. And if you wanna do it yourself theres plenty of sites to input your specs and calculate.

i am running a 12" jbl p1220d2 it has a depth of 6 in and needs 1 cu ft in a sealed box. i know that its kinda big for the car but i love it and i cant listen to anything else since i heard this one... i just mostly want something that is going to fit in the car nicely and not take up too much cargo space in the little trunk in the a/c. i dont really want to do fiberglass because im scared something will go wrong... any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Do you by chance have any more specs for it? I remember thats a pretty old sub and they dont make em anymore. If you want a sealed box though it shouldn't matter.

i have the full spec sheet so what specs do you want

http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/...f.pdf

it requires a 1.5 cu ft ported box or a 1 cu ft sealed know that it is kinda old but it is the best. ive put 4000 watts to it rms and all i got out of it was 3 in. of cone travel. and its only rated for 1600 peak but with clean power its pretty-much bullet proof. for the specs of the jbl gti at 200 dollars less i got my moneys worth. i got my audio guru / father to design me a box. but the only problem right now is im stationed in mississippi and he is in colorado. so i cant do it till he is with me.

this is what i want to do. so it just has a flat panel in the trunk so the kids or anyone else doesn't mess it up and where the seats fold down the ports will be there. when i get started on it i will post lots of pics.

Mines not custom but it fits perfectly. It is a single 12" Q-Logic Enclosure off Ebay. Fits like a Glove.

trhe ebay box is the only one built and sold for the A/C... IMO, your best bet is to get a custom box built with the proper specs for your subs! Don't short change the box just to save a few dollars!

do you think the one on ebay would do for alpine type r's? ive heard different things.. ive heard that they need above .5 cubic feet for a sealed box and they will be fine, but ive also heard that they need above .8 cubic feet. which worries me because the one on ebay is .62 cubic feet

im acually finishing up a fiberglass box for a 12" i made that fits on the left side of the trunk in the front of the left tail light, ima do a write up soon took pictures of every step, i thnk its best way to do it if u want your whole trunk. very time consuming tho, and lil more expensive but it worth it. i just got 2 get my box painted n im done..

ive been waiting to have the time to do that also.. let me know when the write up is posted i wanna see how it looks.

and yes the .62 cubic feet is enough for the 10" type r. that being said its enough but not ideal for the subs specs. it would be better for your system if you custom fabricate a box. as he said dont short change your box, and the doc's never wrong haha

I have the ebay box (2 10" alpine type R) and it works awesome. The guy that makes them actually lives about an hour south of me so he let me save on shipping and come pick it up direct from him. Great guy, he is actually here on the forums but he hangs out in the G35 section.

anyway, I'm actually selling my setup (need money to pay for tuition next semester) let me know if you're interested and i'll cut you a good deal.
