I have had my avic d3 installed for a while now and i noticed my radio reception in NY, Long Island area is crappy. Any radio station i listen to is static beyond beleive. The installer has tried two different antenna adapters and i tried a different one myself and still i get crappy reception. Anyone with a D3 have this problem or is it a setting on the unit or maybe its my luck!!

Thanks for any help!!

I think its New York... I beleive folks on the avic411 forum reported this issue also. I had the Avic D3 for about 6-7 months, and not only did I never have staic problems, but I had metallic tint on my car that should have made reception even worse.

Did you get an aftermarket alarm installed at the same time by any chance?

nope, I called pioneer they said it might be that the installer connected the booster blue cable to the blue cable with the stripe instead of the solid blue one?

that could be also, I just assumed you had already checked that... the blue cable is for the antenna boost... if that isn't connected, then yes it may sound bad!

Wouldn't make a difference, both have power when the radio is on.

The pioneer support said it should be connected to the solid blue wire and not the blue wire with the white stripe. he also mention turning the power on from the antenna amplifier the lead? anyideas?

Understood and that is right. The blue white wire is always putting out power when the radio is on. The blue wire is only putting out power when you are listening to the radio tuner. So either of them will have power out when you are trying to listen to FM and won't make a difference as to it be amped.
