So I had posted this in the Dallas meet thread but I figured most who check that are only from Dallas so I decided to make it its own thread. CoupeVQ35CVT and myself decided to do some runs to see the difference between our cars. We felt this would help others who decide to mod their cars to see what kind of gains to expect. Keep in mind we did this around 1am on some pretty desolate roads so we tried to be as safe as possible with it.

The first video is probably the best comparison from a stop:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BBtzHJvWmE
I "think" I got 2 or so car lengths ahead here at the end. We hit 100 before we broke.

2nd Video:

I really think that things became more stagnant at the higher end speeds due to the CVT limiting itself.

------------------------------------------------
Information on our cars

Ranga14 - Dark Slate (Nismo Badged)
- AEM CAI
- Nismo Cat Back Exhaust
- RacingLine Y-Pipe
- Stillen Underdrive Pulley
- Bullydog GT Tuner
- Racingling Strut Bar & Front/Rear Endlinks
- Stillen Rear Sway Bar
- Eibach Lowering Springs
- 18" Tenzo Type M Wheels w/Falken FK 452 Tires

CoupeVQ35CVT - Silver (Regular Badge)
- Only an Ebay Cat Back Exhaust

*Note: We both had passengers of around equal weight.
------------------------------------------------

CoupeVQ35CVT might be getting a ypipe soon so we might do this again after that time to how much of a difference the Intake/Stillen Pulley/BullyDog Tuner make.

thats pretty awesome. really puts into perspective what bolt-ons really can add to a car, i wish we could have stayed longer to see that.

The test runs were not scientific but were still able to show that Ranga's car would pull ahead eventually given the reaction time of both of us, during about 6 different attempts. I know whenever Ranga would "honk" I'd take a slight moment to react to that and that would cause him to take the lead off the bat... however upon several runs it was obvious that while not a "WOW" difference (IMO) the performance gain is there. I was set on a Y-pipe as being my only other bolt on aside from the catback, given my budget, and so I just may plop the cash for that soon. ;) Then we can see what his pulley and GT tuner really can do.

This was definitely fun and a little hairy at times, but for my first time actually drag/roll racing it was pretty decent. Now all we need is a bone stock Altima 3.5 (no power mods) to go up against Ranga's coupe for a more "clean" comparison, without something like my Ebay exhaust helping/messing the car. ;)

Yeah, the first couple of times we had issues with that, and you'll greatly notice that in some of our "failed runs" once I post those up. I believe we had more than 6 tries. It's just some of the video for the others was complete crap so I decided to delete them. Overall, the runs from a stop were our best.

I can go up against Ranga14 when I'm up in Dallas

My Altima is completely stock.

It just feels so weird knowing your watching two cars racing and you don't hear them shift.... dont think I will ever get used to the CVT's..
