Hi guys, new user here but have been browsing the forums anonymously for a few months, attempted to find any write ups or information pertaining to the installation and removal of a clutch on our vehicles and only ended up with a few threads about the insane amount of labor that it calls for to do (10-13 hours according to Mitchell/Chilton/AllData) with the biggest issue being that these labor guides seem to insist you have to drop the motor and transaxle as an entire assembly! Well I have good news, all of these guides couldn't be more wrong, on a lift I was able to remove the transmission in about 4 hours without rushing. You do have to remove the subframe but it is a fairly simple process. Start by disconnecting your battery, you remove the air ducts/air filter housing, the ecu/pcm, the battery, battery bracket and tray, the starter, then you remove the mid pipe of the exhaust, I removed the bolts for the sway links from the strut and swung them backwards so when removing the sub frame you can leave the sway bar on and just maneuver over the rack/tie rods, I removed the bolts holding the rack to the sub frame then used bungees to secure the rack to the back of the motor so it wouldn't fall, I separated the lower ball joints from the spindles (helps to take out the bolt on the lower control arm closest to the front of the car to help pry the balljoints downward) , removed both Cv axles (the passenger side has a bracket on the back side of the motor you must remove, 4 16mm bolts and some wiggling will be required, helps to have someone pull the passenger side spindle towards the rear of the vehicle) , remove the power steering line from the clips holding it in place on the passenger side of the subframe, secure the top of the engine with an engine brace or cherry picker, any way you can that's safe really, remove the 18 mm bolt holding the lower motor mount to the motor, then remove the sub frame (an extra Jack is pretty helpful for this) at this point all that remains are the bell housing bolts and whatever sensors you may have missed while disconnecting the battery and wire harness associated with it, there should only be two sensors on the transmission and two brackets for the shift cables, which just pop off from the little ball on the transmission. There are some other tidbits I may have left out but you get the idea. really not that bad.

I have a ton of pictures to help illustrate if any one has any questions later, however I'm at work currently and can't upload them all right now.

Just saw your post. I appreciate you taking the time to post that. I'm thinking I may keep my 2012 a/c for a LONG time. Great car! My clutch is still solid at 111,000miles. I'm sure at the rate I drive it I may need to replace in another 100k? If You could post your pics and info, that'd be great!
