Hey Guys,

Heres my dillema, I have an 02 Altima 2.5SL that has the factory BOSE system, not a bad system for stock but I want something better. As it stands right now, I can't afford a new deck, etc. so right now I just want to add some subwoofers. I have a level line converter, subs and an amp. I was wondering if anybody had success with this working or am I just wasting my time?

Second, I can't seem to get a hole through my firewall for bringing the 4 gauge to the battery, I already have a small hole there from the command start installation... to be exact if you look under the steering wheel right behind the fuse box theres that diamond are where the hole is, I can drill a hole Im not worried... but I've tried and its really really tough to get a good grip so the bit just slips all over the place, what do you guys recommend I use/do? I have the wire all running up.

Third is finding a ground in the trunk, Im not successfull in finding a bolt to use as ground, so Im not 100% sure what to do there as well.

Fourth, the remote wire for the amp... the factory BOSE amp is right there in the trunk which is nice and Im assuming it has a remote wire to turn it on and if anybody can guide me where it is exactly in the harness/wiring bunch so I can just tap right into that.

As far as where I would tap in for the line level converter would be the rear deck "subs" aka the 6x9's unless somebody has a better suggestion?

I really appreciate any help and opinions, right now as it stands Im just on a tight budget and I got these subs and the amp free from a friend (his old setup). If you managed to read through my post, I thank you for using your time to help me out.

1. use the line level converter off one of the Bose amps

2. In the Maxima I was able to run it into the drivers side fender and into the cabin via the rubber gromet behind the fuse box. Not sure about the Altima tho

3. Rear-seat seatbelt mount point

4. Looks like pin 31 (G/W wire) is the on/off at the amp (per the FSM)

Thanks for the help! I got it installed early last week, finally got the hole through the diamond shaped entry in the firewall. We ended up making the ground which works perfectly fine.

The remote amp turn on is exactly the wire you said, we just had to keep doing a T&E on each wire in the harenesses to figure it out. I ended up tapping into the rear "subs" for the line level converter, works great but now Im going to take out the 6x9's aka the factory subs so I don't kill them ;-)

Good deal, glad things have worked for ya...

If you get a chance, how about a writeup of what you did (where you ran the wires, tapped in, etc). That would be quite helpful to other Altima owners

Very similar question. Looking for the color of the rear speaker wires as they come into/upstream of the Bose amp on my '08 Altima? This is where I want to tap into and bring the signal to my amp/sub. Had this setup in my '99 Jeep with infinity sound and it worked out great for me. If there are any known technical problems with this please let me know.Rob
