Altima AC Controls Acting Funny

The recric and A/C buttons on my 2006 Altima don't behave the way they should. When the air flow selector is in dash/foot setting, turning on the recirc button also turns on the AC. When the selector is on the foot only setting, the recirc can not be turned on. This seems very strange to me. Has anyone else experienced this and has an explanation for it? Can the dealer fix the programming? Thanks.

take it to the dealer. im sure they can figure out something.
