Beginning July 3, Nissan initiated a recall on the Altima to replace an air filter with an air deflector.

Do I just automatically make an appointment with the dealer to take the car in and get this fixed or do I need to check somehow if my vehicle requires this repair? Am I supposed to receive a notification of some sort?

Just call your dealer, they'll make an appointment for you to come in and have the recall work done.

They'll have to run it through a program that makes certain your vehicle needs these two recalls before any work is performed.

MY05 have several different recalls that may be valid. Just not the ones the MY07 has because they are two totally different body styles and frames.

Kenny,What happened to Nissan's recall section on their website under the "Owning" section? I loved going to Nissanusa.com and looking up what all recalls each MY has.bud

Just wondering...

Is this recall only for the Altima sedan or for the coupe as well?

My gut instinct would be that type of recall would be motor related not Sedan or Coupe related. You would really need to call your local dealership and find out if your car is part of the recall. You use to be able to go to Nissan's site and look it up yourself.bud

That what I was looking for when I saw this, last I knew you could plug in your Vin number on the main Nissan site and it would tell you what recall applied to your car. Now it seems you have to sign up for the recall info?

Called the dealership and it seems that my car falls under the recall. The guy told me that they can install the air deflector during the first service.

From what I have read: The recall affects Altimas built from Sept. 25 through May 11 at its plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, and those produced from Oct. 30 through May 11 at its Canton, Mississippi, factory, Nissan told the agency.

Agreed, highly annoying that its gone (glad I was not dreaming it up). I would think that after you register on the site for the "Owning Section" that you could view the recall information along with the warranty and service tips they offer.

Whats the deal Nissan? I dislike having to call Nissan or dealerships to get this information.
