Hey Everyone,

New to the site but damn theres some great information here... Thanks to everyone for the input

Have a 2012 rogue and the alternator is slowly starting to go on me, so im trying to be proactive and find a replacement asap.

Just wondering if anyone has replaced theirs yet, or if anyone has some insight on which reman brand to go with .... oh and my vehicle has the valeo unit

I was looking at:
- PURE ENERGY 15715 {#11258} Remanufactured w/ Valeo alt.
- WILSON Part #: 90-22-5591 reman

Any input would be appreciated :dblthumb:

Thanks,

Chris

I always stick with OEM/OEM distributed for alternators. Nissan might not make their own, but whatever they put in the vehicle originally should be the replacement part. Maybe that's my Toyota bias, but I've had aftermarket alternators create shorts in the car harness that couldn't be located and impacted the performance of the electrical system permanently, even after the aftermarket piece that created the problem was replaced. Once you short stuff out, there's no fixing it unless you literally want to take the entire vehicle apart.

Do yourself a huge favor and get an OEM alternator from the parts department of your nearest Nissan dealer. This will save you lots of green and maximizes your Rogue's life in the long run. Some aftermarket parts are sketchy, and especially for an alternator, I personally would not go to an aftermarket brand, as this vehicle might be your family car (if I am right) and reliability of those will vary from Donald Trump's approval rating to IQ level of a graduate student in the Honors program in Harvard. Plus, this is my advice, as I am coming from the Honda life, as I always used OEM Honda parts for my Hondas. You could possibly use an OEM Honda alternator if the thing fits and is compatible with the Rogue.
