Hi guys!
Replacing alternator on my 2003 infiniti G35 Sedan.
The top bracket is not lining up. The old and new alternator are identical. The problem is that the new alternator has the fixed bolt sticking out about 1mm more than the old one. How can I adjust that bolt?.. it's not moving.
Trying to attach a pic to make more sense but not sure how

You can always thread a nut on to it, then hit it with a grinder or something to shorten it, then remove the nut (which should re-cut any threads you messed up with the grinder).

Where'd you get the alternator? You might be able to go back and let them know what's up.

Why not just have the original OEM one rebuilt at a motor rebuilding shop?

If he already has purchased one then it's too late for that. Using a grinder or Dremel with the nut as Papa mentioned above would be the best and quickest fix.
