I have a question about my car(2002 Nissan Maxima SE) or alternator(aftermarket HO 160Amp). I have a permanent volt meter inside my car monitoring my electric status due to my audio install, I've noticed that when I'm on the highway at high speed or when at high idle, normally above 2,000 rpm, the voltage drops, below 12.6v and the battery and brake lights start to blink on and off on the dashboard, even with my radio and complete system off. What is happening?

Thank you.

Have you replaced the alternator recently? Is this an ongoing problem since you've installed the stereo system, or is it a new problem?

I replaced it about a year ago because my oem one needed to be replaced, it stop working. This blinking on the dash started when my oem alternator started giving signs that I was about to die and even after I replaced it with this new one it kept blinking at high rpm but voltage was fine, till now blinking and voltage drops at high rpm even with every accessories off.

Did you get a OEM alt? I've seen a lot of aftermarket alt that were horrible and not last long. Worst case I've seen is a guy who got 3 alt bad in row.

You could go back to an OEM alternator and add a capacitor.

You might try calling the manufactures of RV's
Police cars need lots of electrical support too-they usually send them to a custom
shop to outfit the cars after the municipality buys the cars
