i was driving around today, and my car was running fine. volts were at like 12.5-13.0 w/ walbro and elec. fan on. i stop at the bank, go in come out, car wont start. it was at like 9-10 volts. i eventually got it to start and drove it home.

upon closer inspection, the rubber cap on the alternator positive wire was melted off as if it was too hot?

whats the problem here? bad connection? bad alternator? this is my second battery as i funked up the other one, but the old one would pull 14 volts all day? hmm..

Try getting the alternator and your battery tested at a parts store. I think it might be your battery is low and overworking your alternator cause the volts you posted very low for a battery and even 12.5 is iffy while running.

got'em tested, both were good, except battery needed a charging. i cleaned some of the connections up and bam, 13.5 volts at idle. thanks.
