This morning, I noticed my radio turning off and on, as well as the TCS and Slip lights flashingintermittently sometimes when I put on the brakes.

I pulled off the highway and as I was stopped, then engine stalled.

I then restarted it and proceeded to head back home without any problems.

When I got to my street, I put the high beems, radio, heater and headlights on to try and duplicate the problem, but the car ran fine.

Does anyone know if this is indicative of alternator failure, it it could be an electrical problem (short) or if the computer could have just been in a bad state and required an engine restart?

If it's an alternator are after market ones available and are they hard to replace?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Probably bad connections , but never use a non Nissan remanned alternator. The stress the Q places on an alternator is extreme and aftermarkets cut corners with inferior regulator electronics and diodes.

Experience has show that more than half the units from National chain stores fail before the warranty runs out. Sure they prorate another unit but the change labor is significant 2 times what the cheapos cost.

We have seen owners go back and forth 3 times paying us labor each time and a push out of shop fee each time ending up paying double what oem would have cost in first place.

Even the thought of buying any National chain store remanned part makes me want to regurgitate.................alternator, starter, ac compressor, ps pump, master cylinder, coils, injectors, transmissions....................used oem is a big step up from these!

Thank you for the reply. Sounds like OEM is the way to go. Are you referring to the connections to the alternator? Would you recommend cleaning them with CRC?

I got 1800 miles out of a reman alternator for my 1972 Chevy P20, quit in Wyoming on the way to Oregon. But I had it, the battery and my son's diaper changed in 30 minutes.

Well if you can change a Q [90-96] alternator in 30 minutes [stopwatched with witnesses] on the side of the road. I'll do something extra ordinary for you.

Hech if you can do it in 90 minutes, I'll give you a cookie since the ac compressor must be dropped.

That's probably it as they were removed recently. There's also some corrosion. Thanks.
