my buddy has a 2000 frontier i was wondering if he could a bigger Alternator with more amps if some what should he get so he can thanks for the help guys

VG33 engine? A V6 Quest alternator is 110 amp and I believe it will swap in if you change over the pulley.

If you really want a higher output alternator you can contact Mean Green who can sell you an OE style alternator with a heavy duty winding that will give you better than 110 amps. The best part is it will fit with no diddle-dorf-try-to-make-it-fit work becasue the core came from an Xterra/Frontier.

The other option you have is a stock alternator can be rewound by a shop that rebuilds alternators and they might rebuild your stock unit to put out more amps just like a Mean Green unit.( I have one shop here in Calgary that can do just that). The only difference is you have to wait a few weeks to get it done by this local shop.

The Xterra must be a little different than the Frontier. I tried a Bosch alternator made for the quest in my X. After three failures of the Bosch in 4 months, I got a total refund & went with the Mean Green. It has been trouble free for over a year now.

The Quest Bosch alternator fit perfectly.

I forget what year Quest alternator I got, but the paperwork that came with it said it had 130 apm output.

I have had it rebuilt once in 2 years....but I also kept the frontier alternator as a spare....I go through alternators pretty fequently.
