Can anyone give me a quick "how to" on replacing an alternator on a 1993 J30? Any comments/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Well it's done. Pain in the A$$. If anyone needs a quick "how to" and some pointers let me know. By the way, first 2 autozone alternators tested bad right off of the shelf. The 3rd one was the charm. We'll see how long it will last.

Your going to be changing that alternator again soon (either the alternator will fail or your electrical system even engine will start do something funky).

Stick to Nissan OEM alternators. Aftermarket ones aren't worth the hassle.

Perhaps your right. I'm taking the $200.00 cheaper risk.(By the way, the Infiniti parts man told me the infiniti alternators are also rebuilts) I'll post if it fails. It's a life time warranty and I don't plan on keeping the car for more than 2 years. Next time I can change it in about hour. Fingers crossed.

My auto zone alternator is going strong close to 2 years now with a life time warranty.

skoobahead, I know this is an old post, but I could use some tips on replacing my alternator on my 1993 Infinity J30. I have remove the long bolt on the top and the small bolt on the bottom used to increase the tension. It seems that the Alternator is connected to some black plastic holders on the top. I fell like i need to remove the tension bracket to help slide the Alternato out.
