Hello fellow J30 pals!

Well, here is my situation: I have to change the alternator on the 97.5'). I did this a couple years ago and remember it being a real pain. I have the car on ramps right now and looking for some tips. My main issue is the plate attached to the back of the alternator, the little bolts holding it on, and the plastic cover running underneath.

Can I drop the alternator w/o having to detach all of that first?

I only have about an hour of daylight when I get home, any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm really just looking to make this job go faster.

I'm pretty sure you can just undo the two mounting bolts, take the belt off, and then undo everything else. And yes, it is a pain.

Thanks, I think I just needed encouragement. It seems I'm maintaining a fleet of cars between my poor family and mine these days. The last thing I usually want to do is work on the J30. I am even considering some kind of straight six or four banger just to make my life a bit easier.

In an odd way, I'm happy it is raining tonight.
