my 1991-auto alternator died on the way back to NY (some bastard in rhode island wanted $630 to replace the alternator!!!!!) just went to Walmart to buy 2 batteries to get back...Is it easy to replace or should i just bring it to a crooked mechanic in Queens???

I have a basic knowledge of the car..i've only replaced tuneup parts before..nothing else

thanks!!!

thanks Lost!!!

If I can get the part by this week, i guess i'll put it in...But then I'm not even 100% sure it's the alternator. I guess when you're driving around and the car dies means that it's the alternator. $123.72 is a steal considering all other places sell it for close to $200...

oh yeah, where is this thing located???

I got an alt from Autozone a few weeks ago for $105. Best price I could find anywhere. It even had Nissan stamped into the housing. It took about two hours and a fifth of Crown to change it out. It's not as bad as it looks.
