Well the sticky in this forum entitled SR20DET parts guide states "The only parts you really need to get from Japan are the starter, alternator, water pump, and headgasket. Most everything else can be found locally or adapted to fit." So I am guessing an SR20DE alt won't work.

Im shure you can use the KA24de one because I just put mine on my SR. The pulley is one rib smaller so all youl have to do is swap pulleys or just get a smaller belt.

Either get the KA24DE alternator and swap pulleys, or email some of the engine supply shops (heavy throttle, phase2, srswap, jspec) as they carry SR20DET alternators.

If you will get a KA24DE alternator, consider getting an upgraded one, around 150amps

the sr20de alternator does not work, it will blow the alternator fuse.

Ok my alternator just died on my redtop tonight. Does the KA alternator fit as long as I switch pulleys? What did you end up doing JOLTnPEST?
