Hi,

I'm just trying to find out if it matters if you use a 90amp alternator meant for a 4cyl on an inline 6 needing a 90amp alternator?

My ordeal is my alternator went out on my s14 rb25, and I made a custom bracket that allows my ka24de alternator to fit on my rb, well i cranked it over and tested the volts the alternator is putting off straight from the alternator and it is 11.8. so, i had the alternator tested...supposedly its bad, i buy a remaned one and put it on and it puts out the same 11.8, im tryin to decide whether or not to tell them i want my money back or if i just need another alternator, the damn thing was 266 dollars...also, i dont know if it any matter but the 12 volt fuse in the drivers side kick panal keeps blowing, im thinkin its just a short but i don't know if its related or not...please help!!

How would your alternator know (or care) if your engine is 4 cyl or 6 cyl?

Alternators run off RPM's, not number of pistons... Think about that one.

If you can get it to fit, that's all you need.

thats what i figured, but i just wanted to make sure...maybe you should think bout that one...

after finding out the alternator i put on IS good, its gotta be a wire from the key on key off switch that tells the alternator it needs power, ill update...

thats exactly what it was, the wires from the fues box to the alternator wernt communicating so the regulator wasnt gettin the communication to put out all the power, its jerry rigged right now to see if it would work, now it does, so it will be cleaned up

on a side note, it was the sorry wiring mckinney motorsports did...they didnt hook any of my cluster lights, my abs doesnt work(they told me it wouldnt after they said they would, so i said ok, cause it was either that or nothing), one of my knock sensor wires wasnt wired or sheathed right so the car was registering knock when it wasnt, and the alternator wires werent well connected...and i paid like 250-300 for that...but, thats all i have to say bout that...
