alternator question

ok so i just made a huge mistake. i was changing my oil and my filter wrench fell off the ratchet and it landed on the back of the alternator. when i started the car nothing came on lights didnt work, gauges didnt work, nothing worked. so i drove down the street and everything came on. when i got on the highway to go home i relized that my car wouldnt boost and just studder. then finally about 30 minutes later on the highway it died. So i am just about sure the alternator is bad... is there anything else i could have screwed up? Also will the KA alt. work on the SR? thanks
