re.: 1991 240sx hb

Car stalled on highway. It felt like gas was being choked off. Kept engine running and battery went dead or at least i could not start car. Power windows moved slow. After battery rested, car could run for short while. Battery light was on but barely. It was not bright enough to tell it was on. This was the first time i had any sign of alt problems other than maybe stalling at stops signs which i assumed meant i need idle adjustment. the battery is quite new. i guess i better check it with voltmeter.

anyway, how hard is it to replace alt from top. I can barely see alt. chilton guide does not say. do i remove anything to gain access. thanks.

drop it from the bottom. it's alot easier that way. top side you'll need to remove the battery, intake piping, intake elbow (rubber thing), as compared to just the fan shroud if you want to take it from the bottom.
