ok, my alternator died...so i took it to get it rebuilt...but the stator on it is toast and they cant find one that matches? Does anybody know a cross-reference for alternator internals? Or could anybody sell me one, that they can ship to canada.

You can supposedly use a SOHC KA Alternator, but there is conflicting information about whether it has to be modified or not.

sorry I didn't respond to this sooner, go back to the place your going to get it rebuilt. Tell them to keep the housing, tell them the CA18DET uses the same internals as a KA24E alternator, had mine rebuilt with KA24E internals and works beautifully.

well for the starter you can either A. Buy a new one from a 1989 Pulsar NX SE, B. Rebuild with Pulsar NX SE internals, C. Rebuild with KA24E internals.

I thought there was something about the FWD starters that didn't work w/the RWD motor. I think it was the gear diameter or tooth count or something. I

I could be full of crap too...

The RWD starter has threaded holes, The FWD one has 1 hole threaded and the other is non thread so 1 bolt you need to put a nut on it. Other than that little problem its a bolt on affair.
