Alternator problem

Okay so I've replaced my bad alternator with a good one and a brand new belt. I gave some throttle to my car today and at around 4500 rpms I hear a whining noise and my battery and brake light flickers on and off but then when i let off it stops...Any idea what can cause this?? Is the system not charging right? Is the battery bad possibly? Any input would help thanks.
