I am the proud owner of a Nissan. I recently changed my alternator but I am still experiencing problems. At startup the alternator is giving off a normal charge but when it warms up and idles for a while it begins to give a low charge when tested.

I did the battery drain test and found the power windows giving off a drain. I removed the fuse and still have a problem. Just to see if that helps.

Sometimes when I drive the car it seems to be sluggish and hesitates.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad voltage regulator. I believe that is contained within the alternator; so I would replace that, and see if it solves your problem.

I concur with Scott on this one. Although, most parts stores don't sell JUST the regulator, you'd have to replace the entire alternator. Just take the one you just got out of the car and return it for a different one. About 95% of alternators from parts stores are re-mans and get a bad one in the bunch from time to time.

Discount parts store remanned alternators have the worst record in the entire industry..............the electronics are low cost Asian copies with lower specs than oem................designed to fail quickly not last 6 years.
