Car: fixing my broken car

Post

This is my first post here, but I have been browsing these boards for a while and it has been very helpful.I have searched the forums as best as I could before actually posting this.I know you guys hate that. The people here seem to be very knowledgable and I'm sure somebody can help me with this.

I'm talking about the pivot bolt, not the 2 tensioner bolts. It fell out and I can't get enough tension on the belt.I'm guessing the prick that sold me the car ( from the lot ) didn't put the nut on it and it fell out without me knowing.

I think the same thing happened to my a/c compressor. One day while I was driving I smelled something burning under the hood. When I pulled over and checked it, the belt had come off and the a/c compressor was just hanging by it.

So the alternator is pretty much hanging by the belt and tensioner. I'm afraid it with fall off and that would be bad news.

Do any of you guys have the part number for this alternator bolt or direct to a place that can? Can anybody tell me the dimensions of it? Maybe I can find a replacement at the hardware store?

btw this is a '90 h/b auto...ka24e

I'll pull the one out of my Ka24de for you tomorrow if you shoot me an e-mail. Then I can either give you the dimensions or send it to you if you pay shipping. My email is in my profile.

Your local Nissan dealer can get you the bolt if you can't find one. I had to go through them to get a bolt for my TC rods. Of course the alternator bolt is a much more common design, so you should't have a prob locating one. Bill
