If it's your alternator you'll be able to drive for a good 2-3 hours during daytime without your car dying. At night it's shorter because your lights are on. Is your check engine light on? If it's on, go to the FAQ on this website and look for either the SOHC or DOHC FAQ for retrieving engine error codes depending on which engine you have. Follow those instructions and you'll figure out what your problem is. If your check engine light ISN'T on, then I can't help you because i'm not too fimiliar with electrical systems. To make sure your battery and alternator are good, start the car, run it for as long as you can, and record the battery voltage with the car OFF both before you turned the car on and after you turned it off. If it's lower after you turn it off, your alternator is no good.
