there is one wire, think it is 4 gauge or so, that goes from the alternator to the positive terminal of the battery...

Basically, you get another replacement wire, and run from the alternator to the switch, then a 2nd wire to run from the switch to the battery.

As simple as that.

running that kind of amperage to a simple switch is a BAD idea. if it is one of those big "marine" switches it will be fine. for a cleaner install i would use a normal switch with a large high amp relay.

well the switches i'm talking about (and I think he is talking about) is a battery kill switch... which would be wired up similar to what I was saying.

your racing a VW bug in NHRA?? lol but yeah im with the high amp relay idea, it would make for a cleaner install if its on your street car too. Also it would give you a faster access to the switch from the drivers seat in the event of you needing it. I dont know what the NHRA rules are about placement on it though. but if its your all out track car then run that monster sized cut off switch to the trunk like brokeas said

Thanks alot guys, Ill prob be using a marine type(looks liike a key) or maybe somethin from summit. ....so this wire, would it be one of those on the plug, or is it one of em by themself? I havent looked at it lately but if I remember, there is a plug of about 4 wires and then there is one or 2 other wires on separate areas of the alternator. thanks guys.
