Alternator Keeps Dying

Last summer(2009) I purchased a 2002 Nissan Maxima GLE. In one year I've replaced the alternator twice and the battery twice. I'm at my wits end. Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause? Thnx.

Do you have any aftermarket electronics? Sound system maybe?

i had a xm radio connection in the car, but i recently had it removed and am still getting bad readings from my tester. i just ordered a new alternator today on line - aftermarket, brand new, original oe replacement. the previous two alternators were rebuilts from pep boys. i read on the internet that that could have been my problem - rebuilts, they say, are hit or miss.
