Double check the small white with red strip wire. I don't remember for sure, but I believe it is labeled as "L" on the rear cover of the alternator. This line provides the field flashing/excitation that makes the alternator create its alternating current (yeh, I know, diodes then convert it back to DC). With the ignition switch in the ON position, you should have a constant 12 volts at this terminal. If it is not a good connection, you will not get an output from the alternator since their is no field current (3 things required to generate electricity... field, conductor, and relative motion between them).
