Ok guys, my motor's been running great, just there's some crazy alternator hum in my stereo. I've run the battery to the back and I'm sure that's got something to do with it, but any tips or suggestions on how to get rid of that alternator hum?

Location of the cables is key. Any time you wire up audio it is imperitive you route any power and ground wires for the amp away from the speaker wires. Otherwise you will have the inductive hum you are likely hearing. This would apply to battery cables too. I suspect your cables are somewhere close to the speaker lines.

Sorry to hit you up with another electrical question, have you seen it be a common problem to have on the instrument cluster, the battery and the ebrake light on? It's coming up randomly on my car and I'm not too sure if it's got something to do with my alternator or not since my old alternator did that before it gave out on my KA24E. Any suggestions where to look?

That is an indication the alternator is going out. Make sure the ground on it is secure.

Doh, figured. Yeah the ground is pretty secure. *sigh* I guess it's back to the auto parts store again. *weeps*

I buy only aftermarket parts that are life time warranty, like the altenator, I can swap it out in less then 20mins, so I am willing to take the chance on aftermarket stuff. As I will never have to pay for it again if its life time. I havent bought brake pads for my caprice in 9 yrs. Have replaced them at least 6 times in that time. In case your wondering no I only have had to replace the rotors once as they were original and couldnt be cut again.

My point, If your not getting the lifetime warranty on that altenator buy a factory one as it will out last 4 of the aftermarket 3 month warrantied alternators.

Yep on that one for sure. Local autoparts store is a Kragens and their autolite stuff unless it's a new part is a piece of junk with it's rebuild. My alternator is way easy to get to now as well, since I've put on the greddy intake manifold, it really clears up alot of space in my engine bay.

that's the way my motor's lookin. I'm personally proudest of the flexible radiator hose being used as a recirc hose for my bov lol
