Alternator help

I just changed the alternator and i put everything back like it was before. When i try to put the negative terminal back on the battery there was sparks and almost burned the terminal. Did i put the ground wiring wrong? Need help please!!!

are there different terminals on the alternator?

Did you ground it to the engine block?

i ground it to alternator and the body

There shouldn't be many sparks.

Have you tried multimeter probing the line for continuity - from alternator ground to body, then from alternator positive to body, then ground to positive, etc.

There should be 1 ground, 1 connector, and 1 positive... maybe you have something touching on the alternator??

there was no continuity, still the same short circuit

no continuity where? btwn ground and ground?

please post your answers to which wires you tested & what the results were. That would help everyone determine if you hooked something up rite/wrong.

i dont think i did it right. The engine is off how can i test for continuity? I really dont have a clue im a electrical noob.
