Post

I will preface my first technical post by saying that I read all of the threads on the subject today and have gained a lot of knowledge from doing so.

Basically, here is the deal: Left my lights on in my 93 SR Swapped 240sx hatch yesterday afternoon and killed the battery. Completely dead- no lights, door chime, seatbelts, etc. Had a friend come and try to jump the car, still wouldnt fire. We left his car hooked up for about a half hour and finally got it to turn over, but still would not fire.

Today I had a towing service come and try to jump the car, still no luck. I removed the battery, which I should mention is a genesis slim battery (to clear the intercooler piping) and charged it on a trickle charge to full charge.

Installed the battery in the car, had power for these things- aftermarket fan, aftermarket gauges, turbo timer, and boost controller. Nothing else in the car had power- would not turn over, click, anything.

I had another friend try to jump the car at this point and had the same thing, would not turn over or get any power. I realized that the 75 amp alternator fuse was blown. I am now in the process of trying to track one of these bad boys down.

My question is, would the fuse alone being blown cause the car not to start if the battery has power? I know I am getting power for the aftermarket things to work and the trickle charger says the battery has a full charge, so it seems there is something with the car. I read that this fuse can cause a host of things to not work, but I was not sure if the car not starting is one of them.

If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if anyone has a spare fuse for sale or knows where I can order one, that would help as well. The dealer does not have them in stock. Thanks a lot guys!

Yes, This is the main fuse to everything inside your car. All you aftermarket stuff is probably connected straight to your battery.

Go here to order you Fusible Link http://www.courtesyparts.com/2....htmlI bought 3 because they are hard to find.

So a little Update...

We found a fues at autozone and were able to make it fit well enough to work. This restored all of the power to the dash lights, interior lights, seatbelt, etc etc. However, the car will still not turn over. Starter does not even click. Checked the battery and the voltage is good. My friend and I are wondering if the starter could have been damaged from trying to start the car so many times, because for whatever reason the starter is not clicking or getting power. Grrrr... I hate electrical problems.

Have you tried having one person tap the starter solenoid while another person started the car?

This actually happened to a friend of mine who replaced her battery & did all sorts of things after her car died. The starter got stuck in a weird place & needed a nice lil whack to get started.

Good luck, hopefully you don't have to start tracing wires & checking for burnt out relays or anything - a popped alternator fuse sometimes means there's other things that went pop.

Thanks for the heads up. Ill try to give that a shot- Im not even sure where the starter is yet on the SR to be honest, so Ill have to locate it first and check it out.
