Ive recently noticed that my alternator is starting to fail. For the past couple weeks i have had to hook a charger up to my battery once a week or so. And i have been searching in forums for info on a direct fit replacement but i havn't gotten any solid info on it... part numbers or even a solid option of using one from another car. Most of what i have read says to just send it out to get repaired but thats not really an option since its my daily driver. It would be much appreciated if someone could enlighten me on the subject.

AFAIK, there isn't an alternator that will just drop in place. Everything needs minor modifications. I made an alternator from a Quest minivan work (200amp), but it required some fabricating. Maybe call your local rebuild shops and ask them what turnaround time is?

Thanks for the info float_6969. I was just hoping and praying that it wouldn't be a headache to get a new one but owell. Also Ive read alot of you and boostboys posts on the Ca and it seems to me you both know alot and i was wondering if you happen to know of any good shops in the south Florida area (Ft.Lauderdale/Miami) that i can trust to work on my "baby" ca18det s13?

Well from the info that i have gathered the mounting points are different so a new bracket would have to be fabricated to make it work. Which apparently isnt too hard. As far as the amps they put out im not sure...i havnt looked into that.

Pulley is different on the S12, and I wouldn't be surprised if the mounting points were different as well. IIRC, the FWD is mounted on the other side of the motor, and has a different pulley as well.

If you need an alternator, contact me. I live in the Miami area as well, so hit me up via a pm and I'll get back with you ASAP.

over here, local shops rebuilt CA alternators in a couple of hours, so I'll say get out the yellow pages and start calling around to see how fast they can do it for you

most of the internals interchange with other USDM nissans, it has a bunch of sentra guts in it IIRC
