My alt burnt up today, poured water on it to put out the flame. I was able to drive it home with just the a few systems operating. I replaced it, the motor starts but the instruments, signals power equipment etc are not working. The fusable links seem to be OK. The main battery fuseable link seems to be stuck and I am afraid if I force it out it will brake. The idiot lights and gauges are also dead.any help would be appreciated.

you have a blown fuse somewhere. The main fuse may be held in with a bolt from either side.

I found the problem, the fusable link has blown. I tried to pull this out with no luck. I squeezed the sides of the fuse box near the link but it won't come out. The photo is a little out of focus. Any advise would be helpful

on the sides of the box there should be some access peices to get to the bolts holding that in. you shouldnt need to completely remove the screws just loosen them a bit.

You were correct, pulling the access covers away with a small screwdriver exposed a small bolt on each side. one side was a different head size than the other. Thanks for your help NISTECH

yep one was an 8mm the other was a 10mm. the 10mm [silver] is the hot side[always recieves battery voltage]. The 8mm [gold] is your component side.[ Feeds all the sub fuse panels.]
