Just curious if anyone knows of a cross reference for the RWD CA18DET alternator. I just ordered 2 different ones from O'Reilly's based on the 88 Pulsar SE and neither one was correct. He even ordered the 2nd one off of the original Nissan part number on my OEM alternator. Both of the ones they got in looked to bolt to the right (drivers) side of the engine, while the RWD CA bolts to the left (passangers) side.

That sounds about right! Only the rwd alternator will bolt up corrrectly. I have read on here about someone using the SOHC KA alternator and modifiy the brackets a bit. Now this is only something i barely remember so a quick search will probably yield better results. Why not just have your original rebuilt by a local electric motor rebuild shop like i did? Good luck.

Actually, there is nothing at all wrong with my original alternator. I was just willing to pay the $109 for a clean, shiny new alternator to go with my rebuilt, shiny, sparkling, uber clean motor. But seeing as i cant get one, im going to try and dissassemble this alternator (get the cover off) and clean and paint it. I have a shiny new aluminum alternator pulley that i really dont want to throw on an (extremely) old dingy alternator.

But if it ever does go out, then i will look into having it rebuilt. Thanks for the replies, guys!
