Heard you can use a nissan quest van alternator with some modifications or get it rebuilt with some sort of mitsubishi power regulator?

the quest alternator will bolt on to the block with some boring of the mount bolts but the bracket will have to be modified to come forward and down.

Yep the 110a Quest alternator can be retrofitted like Carl said

Regarding fitting a mitsubishi power regulator to a stock RB alternator - I have not heard of this being done. Do you have any more details on this? I asked my alt. rebuild shop about increasing the output through additional windings (not realizing they could potentially swap the regulator) and was told the alt chassis is too small for that kind of upgrade. They suggested I retrofit a single wire GM alternator (available in super high outputs) with custom bracket(s) but I haven't looked into this yet.

on the 25 some of the material on the block itself needs to be removed after those steps in order for the stock belt to work. Also the long washer/cylinder that acts as a spacer on the lower bolt mount needs to be shaved so it has a flat spot as well.

I didn't need to touch the adjuster bracket for richard's(rb240det) car. I just got creative with the way it mounted to the alt. All that it took was an extra bolt and nut and some washers for shimming.
