As I was driving home a few nights ago, I started to notice that my dashboard lights were dimming. As I turned down my street, the radio started turning on and off. As I pulled into my driveway, my engine started sputtering, and finally died. The car, of course, wouldn't start. Well I removed the battery and took it down to the local auto parts store, and had it tested. BAD BATTERY the test read. So they gave me a new battery, which I installed. I took it back to the auto parts store and had them test the alternator - which tested good.Well, the same problem occured as I was driving home again last night. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Could the alternator be overcharging and killing the battery? I'm confused and don't have the money to send a mechanic hunting. I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Thanks for the help!

Wes

A bad alternator should light up a couple warning LEDs near the gauge cluster but alts can die slowly. If you can, have them test it while you're experiencing problems.
