Alternator Amperage

Hey, I have not been on here in a while. However, I noticed the past couple of days that my interior lights and headlights are very dim, checked by battery after driving for 45 minutes and it only had 10.22 volts. I am going to clean and check the connections thoroughly after work, but I am pretty sure its the alternator. My truck is a 84 2.4L single cab long bed 4x2 automatic, any chance anyone knows what amp my alternator might be?

50-60 amp alternator, varied slightly with engine/drivetrain config. My 85 720 kingcab 2wd has a 50 amp alternator, I would think yours would be the same.

Thank you for everyone's help, mine was 50 amp, I was able to see it when I got off work. I barely made it to the parts store - both my fuel gauge and my radio had quit working as well as nearly all my lights. I ended up stalling and pulling into a gas station and changing the alternator right then and there. It is working great now.

i just had my truck towed home battery was totally dead going to have to change it out today.. how do i check amps on the altenator with my volt meter

Amperage (current) can't be checked in parallel like voltage and resistance. Some multimeters are capable of reading amperage, but it it has to be done in series. You can check output voltage on the alternator easily enough, one probe on the output terminal and the other grounded.
