hey all,i am installing some amps that produce pretty good amounts of power (1600 watts) i figured out the amps that this is, and its around 86. what i was wondering is how much does the alternator produce, and is needing that many amperes going to produce major problems. thanks. any solutions will also b welcome, thanks.

I would hope that you wired all of this directly to the battery. Running that much power you will be near or over the rating of the alternator(It may only be a 60 amp alternator). Anytime you are running the alternator at or near wide open you will probably burn them up rather quickly.

ya, its all wired directly onto the battery terminal....and i think the 86 amp draw is at full volume, and that much power at full volume would blow my brains out, so if i keep it below half, i think i will b good

there are higher output alternators for the hardbody's, duno if it'll work on a 240, but worth checking out. http://www.4x4parts.com
