ok so yesterday i got my wheels on. Falken Koblenz 19x8.5 +25 and 19x10.5 +10. i didnt like the way they looked stock height. so about an hour later i roll over to a shop and we were thinkin bout hackin my springs when we found that S14 springs looked very very similar. so we figured hey what the hell lets try it. let me know what you guys think. ill release the info on which brand springs i used if all rides well. so far its awsome on stock struts.

the fitment in the rear is pretty good. we did use a fender roller to get the clearance you see in the pictures. as for the fronts, im going to be using some 25mm hubcentric spacers.

man that sits down nicely....

Let me ask, are those 240 lowering springs???? If so, stock 240 springs might be the ticket, as that might be too low for some....

I would imagine they are lowering springs, since he implied the use of "brands". Looks very good, the rear fitment is awesome.

Wouldn't there be an issue in using springs that are designed for a car that weighs 1,000 pounds less?

I think your stock struts are going to wear out pretty quick given how low the ride is....it does look nice!

It looks nice, but I wouldn't ever run springs for a car that's 1000 pounds less than the Q (yes, they're 240 springs). It is nice and low though, looks great man.

something to consider= compare the spring rates... most of the time, aftermarket springs are much stiffer for less roll, so they may be somewhat close to a stock Q spring.... I have no idea what these are or what OEM Y33 springs are, but its food for thought. If you could find some ULTRA STIFF springs for an S14, they may be like a lower version of OEM Q springs.

I agree. That would concern me a little bit. I do think it looks nice though.

I agree with you Wes, if you can get some really stiff 240 springs, you should be set. Better yet you can probably get custom rates from Ground Control for 240's...

Not sure why people are so hell-bent on finding a different solution than the Teins. kevin gets them quick and the price is very reasonable and the are DESIGNED for the Y33 from day one. I cannot imagine wanting to go any lower, maybe maybe going one inch up if you lived in an area where the roads are really bad, but overall I would suggest to anyone thinking of doing this to go with springs designed for the Y33 versus something designed for a 240 which weighs a heck of a lot less and is a completely different car.

IMO people just wanna go lower.

it's all about cosmetic appearance. Visual satisfaction.......

then of course when wheels start to bend, bumpers start to crack, mufflers start to pop, metal - plastic starts to scrape, then it's a different type of feeling. A feeling of "wtf did I just do?"

You should be able to feel this as the car will bottom out relatively easy if they are too soft.

To clear things up.... Sometimes the forum has a "brain fart" and it doesnt post your post, even if it returns you to the thread. Ive had it happen to me a few times, and i usually have to copy my text and open a new browser..

we have no records of any posts being deleted (every action a moderator takes is tracked by a log created by the forum software)....

its funny to listen to some of you. for one, i actually have them on and i can say from experience that it rides like a spring would expect to. yes it has bottomed out on the front. when in contact with large bumps which can be expected with already blown struts. I believe if i used the KYB struts with them it would be perfect. as for choice of spring. i used the Tanabe DF210 which is a 2.5 inch drop for an S14 and i can say it easily did 3 inches on the Q. I believe that if i used the RSR race spring that it wouldn't even come close to bottoming out because of their much stiffer spring rate, i love RSR springs cus i had those on my S13 in combination with KYB and they dropped the lowest and had the best ride quality for a spring and strut combo for a cheaper alternative to JIC's which i ran later on the car. JICs will be on myQ in the future but for now 120$ tanabe springs dont bother me.
