Just bought me a 1990 240sx and find out that the Antenna is all messed up. I go to fix it then find out that there is an auto antenna timer? A small box that is suppose to be located near the Power Antenna. Whatever! Its not there so that why Antenna either stays up or stays down never doing what it suppose to. Does anyone have an alternative to a power antenna? Any pictures? Lets see what people have done, Help me out!

Adel

most new cars have the antenna built into the back window with the defrosters, but i dunno how you would go about doing something like that, would be cool if you did it tho

I would so do something like that if i had some sort of instruction or knowledge about antennas because the power antenna is the worst thing nissan has come up with all of them break its unbelievable!

Is your motor messed up, or is just your mast broken. If its just your mast, thats easy, just take the old one out and put a new one in. Unless you really WANT to go with an aftermarket antenna...then I would say buy a nice low-profile one.

s2000 antenna swap. You can pick up a replacement one at almost any auto parts store for about $15-$30, and it takes about 25 minutes to install. Just a little rubber antenna sticking up about 8 inches from your trunk.

Lol...damn power antennas. Especially the pos 'universal' one that I bought from autozone. Time to stop being cheap and buy the OEM mast.

LTQ, do you know more about this s2000 antenna swap? I have considered something like that cuz I am also a member of the Broken Antenna Club and I want to do away with the power antenna all together. But I researched it with my integra a while ago and decided for some reason that it wouldn't be worth it. I don't remember why tho.

I have seen someone who removed the windshield squirter and put a rubber duckie antenna there, but that would prolly be too much work. Also, I have heard of people hooking up a generic universal antenna, but just letting it lie extended, tucked away in the trunk. I guess you don't get the best reception that way (obviously) but some people say it's good enough to live with. I think there may even be antennas designed to sit in the trunk, but they have the same problem.
