i have a black 93 hatch with the ka24de motor and 5sp transmission, and the car has worn out two batteries. upon a basic review of the car i noticed the wires leading to the alt were not attached. so we attached the main wire but there is one wire not hooked. it looks to be a ground but i aint sure. its black with an eye at the end. and now i have to fully charge my battery every few days. and when i start my car it wont allow any power to the car but it will start and the motor runs fine. but after i shift into 1st and hit the gas the lights come on. radio powers up and clock resets its self and for some weird *** reason my wipers come on one time. can some plz tell me if i need a new alternator or is it just that black wire

might be that black wire. i just put an alternator in my bosses truck the other day and that black wire goes on the alternator. theres a small screw that does nothing but hold it on. thats not necessarily the problem but youll never know if it was if you dont hook it up. give that a try see if it helps.i double checked with my boy he says that should do it.

hey, i just replaced my alternator on my 92 hatch 5 speed. there a 3 wires that need to be plugged. 1, the harness plug, and 2 wires that are screwed on. make sure theyre both connected so it can run right.

well. . unless someone screwed with your wiring, that black wire has gotta be a ground for your alternator. . . and if your alternator isn't grounded then it's not gonna be putting out any juice for your car to run off. . . and therefore, the battery is supplying all the power for your car. . . hook up that ground!

Just for giggles hook up a DC Voltmeter to your battery and notice the voltage level. Should read around 11-13 volts depending on the meter. Then start your car and check again. The voltage should jump roughly 1.5 to 3 volts DC higher than what it read before. If it does then the alternator is working just fine. You can also hook up the meter directly to the alt and check there for an output voltage of at least 13 volts DC. If you do not have a Volt meter or you just feel lazy take it to auto zone and have them check it for you. They will test both your batter and alternator.
