anyone know what altenator will cross ref for the red top sr20det?

The only parts you really need to get from Japan are the starter, alternator, water pump, and headgasket. Most everything else can be found locally or adapted to fit.

iirc, to get the ka alternator to work, you have to switch pulleys. Do you need to reclock it as well?

I have a KA on my SR as well.

I wrote up a step by step guide a while back. You have to swap pulleys and also grind some of the lip behind where the pulley goes. Basically a lip on the casing near the bearing.

You also have to use some of the KA tensioner if I remember right..

i also used my 92 ka on the sr I had no grinding at all maybe thers some different castings out there
