AltCoupe Back Lights/Trunk Hood Misaligned

Hi guys,

I just picked up my Altima Coupe last night.

This morning, I noticed the back lights appear to be slightly misaligned. I'm not sure you can see what I mean in these photos, but the space between the lights and trunk hood are different for each light, making it appear that either the lights have not been installed correctly or the trunk is warped or bent just a little.

In other words, the spacing varies in spots, from almost touching at the tops to maybe .4 inches near the bottom of one of them.

If you can see, the trunk is even with the lights where they meet at the top, but the truck is raised at the base of the trunk and it not even with the lights. You would think the lights and trunk would be even all around.

I have a service appointment on Monday. When I brought it back to have service look at it, they appeared to be a little worried.

I'll keep you posted.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. What rights do I have? Can I ask for a new car or do they have a right to fix it and can I get a discount of some sort?

I've never heard of lights being misaligned, but it happens pretty often on trunks and hoods. My trucks hood was misaligned along the fender so I just took a ratchet and loosened up the bolts holding them and aligned it myself. Tightened it up and voila!

Cool. Thanks bro. I feel much better now. Hopefully they can easily fix this problem by re-aligning the trunk.

Just for an update fellas...

I took the car back to service. They adjusted the lights. They look much more even now.

I did check the 5 coupes they had in the lot. All are mis-aligned in some little way:

Hood slightly depressed compared to the backlights. Hood slightly above the backlights...if you run your fingers across them at the base. All of the headlights appear to sit closer to the top than the bottom, where they flair out a bit.

so I felt much better knowing I was not alone.
